A Single Game Rod Licence is required by all anglers to fish for trout or salmon on the Agivey. This licence is valid for nearly all waters in Northern Ireland except parts of the Foyle System where a Foyle Fisheries Endorsement is also required.

The Game Rod Licence is issued by the Fisheries Conservancy Board for Northern Ireland and is available from most Fishing Tackle Dealers. The closest tackle shop to the Agivey is on the Coleraine Road just outside Garvagh - Atkins Tackle, 71 Coleraine Road, Garvagh, Co L'Derry, BT51 5HP ( See - River Map )

The Following options are available and the prices listed are for 2004 and should be treated as guidance only.

The Agivey Anglers Association issues Permits to all visiting angler. These are available throughout the season from two locations

(1) Atkins Tackle shop on the Coleraine Road just outside Garvagh - Atkins Tackle, 71 Coleraine Road, Garvagh, Co L'Derry, BT51 5HP ( See - River Map Location 'A')

(2)Mrs Sheila McCanns house on the Agivey Rd, about 1 mile from the Brown Trout Inn towards Kilrea 162 Agivey Rd, Aghadowey, Coleraine, BT51 4AB ( See - River Map Location 'B')

The Game fishing season on the Agivey runs from the 1st March to the 30th September.

The following Permit options are available and the prices listed are for 2004 and should be treated as guidance only. (3 Day, 5 Day & 7 Day Permits are issued only to visiting anglers who reside outside of Northern Ireland and should be obtained from Atkins Tackle)
